Interviews. There isn’t really a better way to grab the attention of the masses. Providing information straight from the mouth of an authority figure in an easy to read or listen format.

The blogger interview series I conducted last year was a huge hit for this blog, but I also often enjoy being the interviewee rather than interviewer. So when blogging friend and reader of this blog, Rowell Dionicio, contacted me to ask if I would be interested in being his first ever interviewee, I couldn’t possibly have said no.

So a couple evenings ago Rowell and I got together on Skype and had a chat. We spoke about the difficulties of blogging, finding inspiration, what it was that prompted me to start blogging and what it is that continues to motivate me from day to day.

Rowell uploaded the 12 minute interview today. If you can get past my typically English “umms” and “errms”, there is some really good material prompted by some fantastic questions by Rowell. Here is a link to the interview: Interview with Jamie Harrop.

Thanks Rowell! I hope you go on to conduct more interviews, and I hope you stick to doing them over Skype. Text interviews have become too normal, so using Skype to differentiate from the masses is a fantastic idea.

I hope you enjoy the interview!

Nice one Jamie, great Northern accent :)

  2. Jamie Harrop says:

    Thanks Andrew. :)

I was contemplating talking about Yorkshire tea and sheep, but decided not to. :)

    Jamie

  3. The accent combined with mine (if you can here my Filipino accent) really makes it an interesting interview. I had to listen to it again so I can actually gain something from the interview.

I spent the last day or two focusing on the technicalities of the audio file.

  4. Sid Savara says:

Cool! I’ll head over there to check it out

I enjoy seeing bloggers I already know in different formats (audio, video, etc) but I actually enjoy reading text just because I can quickly skip around. With audio/video, it’s hard to know when the topic I’ve been waiting for is going to come up in the interview

New dimensions to the blogger are always good though =)

  5. I was actually just listening to it, I had to stop half way through cause I got aim bombed and I had to mute my laptop :P

Anyway I love interviews, you get a one-on-one with the people you follow/read. Then when you get interviewed it makes you feel special :P

  6. Hi Jamie – What a fabulous interview. It was great putting a voice to your name and photo. The questions Rowell asked brought out the best in you and what you shared is very valuable.

  7. The post has now been updated with a transcript just in case you are unable to listen to the mp3.

I hope you all enjoy :)

  8. Hey Jamie that was fantastic interview.. Very interesting. I will wait for more such interviews..
